May to October: GAME at SEALEVEL

Focus on Light Pollution – Live chats with young researchers from across the globe

Sixteen students, eight locations, one shared research question – that’s GAME (Global Approach by Modular Experiments), the international training and research programme coordinated by GEOMAR.

In 2025, participants are investigating: How does artificial light at night affect epiphytic communities that grow on seaweeds?

In April, the 16 early-career marine scientists set off in pairs to research stations in Wales, Japan, the Philippines, Spain, Cabo Verde, Finland, Chile and Malaysia. There, they are now conducting the same experiments in parallel – so that their results can later be directly compared.

Live chats at SEALEVEL
Join us live at SEALEVEL in the heart of Kiel: On eight Thursdays between May and September, young researchers will be dialling in from around the world and appear on the big screen in the immersive exhibition space.

In October, all GAME participants return to Kiel – and on 9 October, they will present their findings and personal insights in person at SEALEVEL.
