The third United Nations Ocean Conference will take place from 9 to 13 June 2025 in Nice, France. It is co-hosted by the governments of France and Costa Rica. 

UN Ocean Conference, 9–13 June 2025, Nice

GEOMAR will participate with two side events on the research vessel METEOR

7 June 2025/Kiel/Nice. The third United Nations Ocean Conference will take place from 9 to 13 June 2025 in Nice, France. It is co-hosted by the governments of France and Costa Rica. The conference aims to advance urgent action for the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean. The conference is intended to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) "Life Below Water". At the end of the conference, the “Nice Ocean Action Plan” will be adopted as a declaration of action.

GEOMAR will be represented by two side events aboard the research vessel METEOR. GEOMAR scientists will also be available for interviews and discussions.
